Barry Ryan

Biomedical AI PhD Student (2022 - present)

I studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering in University College Cork in Ireland and completed a masters in Data Science in Trinity College Dublin. I joined the University of Edinburgh in 2021 as part of the Biomedical Artificial Intelligence doctoral training programme. My research looks at integrating genomic datasets in heterogeneous diseases using networks and artificial intelligence. So far I have completed projects subtyping different breast cancers and classifying individuals with Parkinson's Disease from those who have early signatures for the disease. My next project will be focused on tracking the trajectory of individuals with severe Covid. I am supervised by Profs Ian Simpson and Riccardo Marioni.
